Aggravated Assault Suspect Arrested in Alice Springs by Police

Northern Territory Police have arrested a man in relation to an aggravated assault that occurred in Alice Springs overnight.

Around 7:30pm, police were flagged down by a woman on Todd Street suffering lacerations to her face and head. She was conveyed to Alice Springs Hospital for treatment while police began investigations. CCTV operators tracked her movements back to a vehicle parked on Gregory Terrace, where police believe an assault may have taken place.

A short time later, police received a report that the victims partner, a 31-year-old man, was present at the hospital. Police attended the scene and after a short foot chase the man was arrested without incident.

He remains in custody and is assisting police with enquiries.
