Aivazovsky’s "The Survivor" heads to auction at MacDougall’s

- Ivan Aivazovsky’s "The Survivor" (1892) may become one of the most expensive items to be sold at an upcoming auction at MacDougall’s slated for June 8.

With a starting price of £450,000–600,000 (around $650,000 – $866.000), "The Survivor" is represented alongside Lado Gudiashvili’s "The Legend of the Founding of Tbilisi (£200,000 to 250,000).

The auction offers an opportunity to acquire the only version of Henryk Siemiradzki’s large-scale preparatory studies for his most famous painting – Leading Light of Christianity. Nero’s Torches – with a starting price of £400,000–500,000.
