Appeal for public assistance in Lutwyche, QLD

Police are seeking public assistance after a vehicle was stolen in Lutwyche this afternoon, Queensland Police say.

Initial information suggests that at 3.35pm, a man entered a work site on Damon Street and entered a ute and drove it out of the address.

One of the men working at the site got into another vehicle and followed the ute on Maygar Street towards Lutwyche Road.

The offender then stopped the ute and when the other man approached, he reversed and then jumped out of the ute and assaulted the other man with a spirit level before fleeing on foot.

The man ran towards Lutwyche Road followed by the victim and attempted to steal a white hatchback that was travelling on Lutwyche Road before the victim chased him away.

Another scuffle occurred between he men and the offender fled the scene on foot.

The victim was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

A backpack that contained stolen jewellery and drugs was recovered from the scene.

The man is described as Caucasian in appearance, around 170cms tall with short brown hair and was last seen wearing a dark blue shirt with light blue horizontal stripes.

Police are also seeking the woman who was driving the white hatch back on Lutwyche Road the man attempted to steal around 3.40pm to contact them.

Investigations are continuing.
