Asbestos Found At Dendy Park

Council is aware that asbestos was found at Dendy Park in Brighton over the weekend.

The contaminant was located on the east side of the park adjacent to Cummins Road.

The EPA have been notified and are undertaking testing of the material discovered to confirm whether it is indeed asbestos. Preliminary advice indicates it is highly unlikely that the sample is related to mulching undertaken in the area.

Council has had an environmental hygienist on the site today to look for further potential contaminants. Once a report is provided from the hygienist, Council will consider any management recommendations arising.
