Audit, Risk and Improvement Committee Update

Kiama Council

Kiama Council has appointed experienced public sector administrator Jim Mitchell to its Audit, Risk and Improvement Committee (ARIC).

Mr Mitchell is an experienced leader and administrator in state and local government, most importantly with the NSW Audit Office where he was Deputy Auditor-General for seven years.

He is currently Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee of Sydney Local Health District and NSW Office of Sport.

Mr Mitchell joins David Pendleton and Rhonda Wheatley were appointed as the external independent members on the committee.

Council established ARIC in 2021 to provide independent assurance and assistance on risk management, control framework, external accountability, legislative compliance, internal audit, external audit and process improvement responsibilities.

The ARIC membership consists of two councillors and three independent external members together with two non-voting members: Council's Chief Executive Officer and Internal Auditor.
