Basement car park fire in Hornsby

An investigation is underway into the cause of a fire in a basement car park of a unit block at Hornsby this morning, NSW Police say.

Emergency services were called to the three-storey block on May Street, Hornsby, about 1.15am tomorrow, and found a fire in the basement car park.

Residents were evacuated from the building as a precaution while officers from Fire & Rescue NSW worked to contain the blaze.

The fire was extinguished within 15 minutes; however, there was some damage to the building’s utilities system and two cars were also damaged.

A crime scene has been established and investigations are now underway into the cause of the blaze.
