Body of missing kayaker located

A body of a man who went missing while kayaking on the Central Coast, has been located.

A 25-year-old man set out kayaking with friends on Budgewoi Lake, Toukley, about 7.45pm yesterday (Tuesday 31 December 2019).

The group were unable to return to shore when conditions worsened on the water and two kayakers were later rescued about 500m south of the Buff Point reserve.

Officers from Tuggerah Lakes Police District, with the assistance of the Marine Area Command, Marine Rescue, Roads and Maritime Services and Polair, continued to search the lake for the missing kayaker.

Just before 11am today (Wednesday 1 January 2019), the body of a man was located in the water off Budgewoi.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
