If you look very closely at the seemingly innocent tree trunk something very strange emerges
At first glance this picture doesn't seem to show much but take a closer look and youll see one of natures masters of disguise at work.
With its feathers blending seamlessly into the bark of a tree this Eastern Screech Owl is almost impossible to spot.
But sharp eyed photographer Larry Lynch was lucky enough to capture the owl as it disguised itself in a tree close to his home in Florida.
Larry, 50, said: "I felt very excited and relieved that the image turned out so well.
"The lighting set up for this photo shoot was complicated. We were shooting in the dark so we needed a main light source to act as the sun and a fill light to open up or lighten harsh shadows created by the main flash.
"This is the same technique that is sometimes used in a portrait photography studio.
"I have learned a lot about these beautiful birds in the last couple of years so I think there's a very good chance I will be able to use the knowledge gained to locate and photograph another nest in the future."
