Changes To University Governance

Universities Australia acknowledges the outcomes of yesterday's Education Ministers Meeting.

"Education Ministers have endorsed several actions relating to university governance and workplace relations compliance," Universities Australia Chief Executive Officer Luke Sheehy said.

"University governance is a key area of focus in the Australian Universities Accord, and we will continue to engage with federal, state and territory governments on these important issues, including on the establishment of an Expert Governance Council.

"The Expert Governance Council was proposed by the University Chancellors Council under the leadership of Mr John Stanhope, and I'd like to thank the Chancellors for their work on this.

"Universities are committed to providing the best possible work and learning environments for staff and students and support the intention of measures to achieve this goal."
