CommBank is pleased to announce that it's the presenting partner for Vogue Codes 2024.
Committed to building the workforce of the future, CommBank recently welcomed the biggest graduate intake across the bank into its Technology team, with 206 new graduates joining across the in-demand fields of data, cyber and engineering - of these, 34 per cent were females, up from 33 per cent in 2023.
The Vogue Codes partnership demonstrates CommBank's commitment to promoting gender diversity and inclusion in STEM and encouraging more women to consider a career in technology. It also provides an opportunity to showcase some of the bank's incredible female technologists throughout the event series and associated content.
Commonwealth Bank Executive General Manager Human Resources Technology, Jane Adams said to increase the number of women pursuing careers in technology we need to inspire the next generation.
"CommBank is pleased to partner with Vogue Australia to showcase some of the dynamic careers and pathways on offer in STEM and help encourage more women to consider a career in technology.
"Technology is central to everything we do for our customers and we're committed to building a skilled, future-ready workforce - including female technologists - and ultimately building a brighter future for all."
Vogue Codes is in its ninth year and the technology summit and campaign has encouraged more women to engage with STEM subjects and careers by shining a light on women leading the way, said Vogue Australia Editorial Director, Edwina McCann.
"Programs like Vogue Codes are helping change perceptions and we've seen real progress over the last nine years," said McCann. "While this is to be celebrated, we still have a way to go to true equal and fair female representation in the world of STEM, especially in senior leadership positions."
This year's Vogue Codes theme is Technotopia: Designing the World of Tomorrow and will take a look at the next generation of thought leaders, technology innovations and advancements changing the course of the world, including diving into the endless possibilities of AI.
The flagship Vogue Codes Summit on Saturday 22 June at Sydney's Carriageworks features a speaker line-up of inspiring female technologists and innovators, including CBA's Sonal Surana, General Manager, AI & Advanced Analytics for Business Banking. Surana is looking forward to sharing her experience harnessing AI and data science within the bank to deliver improved customer experiences, while inspiring more women into STEM careers in the process.
"I'm proud to participate in Vogue Codes and shine a light on the endless possibilities a career in technology data and AI offers. It's crucial that we have more women entering STEM fields and enriching our technological landscape, infusing it with varied perspectives and innovative solutions, contributing to a brighter and more inclusive future," she said.
As part of the partnership, CommBank will also have one of its former Technology Graduates speaking at Vogue Codes Con, an event designed specifically for university students pursuing careers in technology, on Thursday 29 August.
Now in its ninth year, Vogue Codes is designed to encourage more women to study STEM subjects and tech-based careers of the future.
