Critical incident team to probe crash near Wagga Wagga, NSW

A critical incident investigation has been launched following a crash at Glenfield Park, near Wagga Wagga this afternoon, NSW Police say.

About 4.30pm today, police from Wagga Wagga Highway Patrol observed a motorbike, allegedly travelling above the speed limit, on Red Hill Road.

Officers turned around in order to stop the motorcycle.

A short time later, the motorbike and a Toyota sedan collided approximately 500m east of the intersection with the Olympic Highway.

The motorcycle rider, a man believed to be aged in his twenties, was seriously injured in the crash. Police provided immediate first aid at the scene. He further treated by Ambulance Paramedics before being taken to hospital in a critical condition.

The male driver of the Toyota, believed to be in his fifties, was treated at the scene for minor injuries. He will also undergo mandatory testing at hospital.

A critical incident team from an independent Local Area Command, from within the Southern Region, will now investigate all circumstances surrounding the incident.
