Drug trafficking arrests, Brisbane City

Detectives from the Brisbane City Criminal Investigation Branch have charged 27 people following a seven month operation targeting drug traffickers in Brisbane, Queensland Police say.

As part of Operation Oscar Millibar, detectives identified an organised drug trafficking syndicate operating within the Brisbane City area. The drug syndicate was primarily involved in supplying and trafficking of cocaine.

Oscar Millibar lasted seven months and has culminated over the last two days with the execution of a series of search warrants in and around the Brisbane City area. A significant amount of illicit drugs were seized throughout the operation, including Cocaine, MDMA, Cannabis and cash suspected from the sale of dangerous drugs, with a combined total of about $509,694.

Detective Inspector Glen Farmer from City Valley Crime Group said Operation Oscar Millibar has been a great success.

"This operation has disrupted and dismantled a sophisticated and well organised drug trafficking syndicate," Detective Inspector Farmer said.

"The arrest of these people and seizure of these drugs will significantly contribute towards a safer community."

Five people aged between 21 and 43-years-old have been arrested and charged with drug trafficking and being involved with this drug syndicate.

A total of 27 people have been arrested on 124 charges, including trafficking, supply dangerous drug, possession dangerous drugs and other associated drug/property related charges.

Over the coming weeks the majority of people arrested will appear before the Brisbane Magistrates Court.

Investigations are continuing.
