Drugs charges and seizures in Brisbane, QLD

Detectives from the Brisbane City Criminal Investigation Branch have charged a total of 27 people with 109 drug related offences following a four-month investigation targeting the importation and trafficking of dangerous drugs, Queensland Police say.

The investigation culminated with a number of search warrants being executed in the North Brisbane and Petrie areas this morning.

Throughout the operation police seized MDMA pills and powder, cannabis, cocaine, LSD, cash and property worth a substantial amount of money.

A 27-year-old Lawnton man has been charged with a number of drug related offences including importing commercial quantities of border controlled drugs, seven counts of possessing dangerous drugs, two counts of supplying dangerous drugs and possessing anything used in the commission of crime.

He is due to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court tomorrow morning (July 28).

Detective Inspector Glen Farmer said the operation had been a great success, resulting in the removal of dangerous drugs from the local community.

"These seizures and arrests will have a significant impact on the distribution and sale of dangerous drugs within the Brisbane area," Detective Inspector Farmer said.
