Eyre Highway closed after truck fire near Wirrulla, South Australia

The Eyre Highway will remain closed until midday tomorrow (Monday) while emergency services clean up hazardous materials following a truck fire.

About 3.15pm on Saturday 14 March, emergency services responded to a B-double truck fire on the Eyre Highway near Wirrulla.

The truck driver was not injured.

The fire was extinguished, however, the truck was carrying hazardous materials.

SES crews are working to safely remove the materials and the trailers will then be towed from the scene.

It is expected the highway will be reopened to all traffic around noon tomorrow.

Diversions are in place around the scene via Streaky Bay Road at Poochera and the Flinders Highway. This diversion is suitable for all traffic including heavy vehicles.
