Former officer charged with drink-driving following crash in Jamberoo

A former police officer has been charged with drink-driving following a crash in Jamberoo earlier this year, NSW Police say.

About 2am on Tuesday 29 March 2016, a man allegedly crashed his car into a parked car outside a hotel in Jamberoo after consuming alcohol.

The incident was reported to police from Lake Illawarra Local Area Command the following day, and an investigation commenced.

Following investigations, officers charged a 33-year-old man with negligent driving and drive under the influence.

He is due to appear at Wollongong Local Court on 2 November 2016.

The man was a senior constable attached to a specialist unit at the time of the incident; however, has since resigned.
