Furious man left looking like HITLER in his passport photo after mishap

Stuart Boyd, from Salford, said he was distraught when his passport arrived and he looked at the picture

Passport officers are investigating how a man was left with a Hitler-style moustache in his photo.

Clean-shaved Stuart Boyd received the new passport one week after send his application - but couldn't believe his eyes when he spotted a small toothbrush moustache on the image.

Now, dreading being forced to use the travel document for the next 10 years, Stuart claims the photo makes him look a dead ringer for the Nazi leader.

The Salford man had ordered his passport on May 22 after booking a holiday to the Greek island of Rhodes in July with friends.

The document arrived exactly one week later, but the former paramedic was dismayed to find his reproduced photograph made it look like he had a menacing toothbrush moustache.

Stuart Boyd said he was distraught thinking he'd have to stick with the photo for 10 years

Stuart, who now works in public transport, told the Manchester Evening Mews : "I was really angry when I saw it.

"I was distraught, really. I just thought, ‘Oh, for God’s sake, I have to have this for 10 years and they can’t even get it right.

"I wasn’t really sure of the process of how to change it so I posted a picture of it on Facebook ."

Friends were quick to stick the boot in.

One friend, Ruth Armstrong Carooppunnen, posted on Stuart’s Facebook page: "That is Heil-arious!"

Another friend, Glenn Hughes, commented: "What’s the problem? It looks al-Reich to me."

Stuart Boyd said his friends and colleagues are managing to see the funny side

Not seeing the funny side, Stuart phoned his sister Angie to sound off.

He said: "She just started laughing, she said to me, ‘oh come on, you’ve got to see the funny side,’ then I did see the funny side.

"My friends and colleagues think it’s hilarious."

After explaining the issue to the Passport Office, he was contacted first thing on Bank Holiday Monday.

The passport office said they are investigating the photo

He continued: "To be fair the woman was very pleasant and helpful. She said they obviously didn’t intentionally make me look like Adolf Hitler and told me to send it back so they can issue a new one."

A spokesman for Her Majesty’s Passport Office told the M.E.N: "All UK passports are carefully created and checked to exacting standards before they are issued.

"We will be contacting him to investigate this case further."
