Goldfields - Esperance -, WA

This week police have raided dozens of homes in the Goldfields-Esperance District as part of an

operation targeting the sale of methylamphetamine and other illicit drugs, WA Police say.

Goldfields-Esperance Police, with the assistance of specialist State Crime officers conducted an

investigation which led them to execute more than 50 warrants in Kalgoorlie-Boulder, Kambalda and

Esperance with further searches planned in the coming days.

To date the operation has resulted in:

- 18 people charged with the sale or supply of methylamphetamine and a further 25 people

charged with other drug and property related offences;

- 250 grams of methylamphetamine seized;

- $10,700 in cash seized;

- Quantities of other drugs seized, including 15 grams of MDMA, 373 grams of cannabis, 15

grams of oxymetholone and one gram of cocaine.

- Weapons seized, including a firearm, six prohibited weapons including an electronic stun

device, crossbow and knives, as well a large quantity of ammunition.

- 15 ounces of processed gold as well as approximately one tonne of unprocessed gold bearing

ore was seized.

- $5000 worth of stolen goods was recovered.

Goldfields-Esperance District Inspector Denise Ramsay said that the community is not immune from

the devastating impact of methylamphetamine.

"Our officers are working hard to target the illicit trade of this dangerous drug. The operation this

week has involved officers from a variety local areas and Police units who have successfully removed

drugs and weapons from our community," she said.

Inspector Ramsay thanked members of the public that have provided information to date and

encourages anyone with information about illegal drug dealing to contact police.

"If you see it happening, please contact us. Information from the public is crucial in helping police

combat drug dealing in our community," she said.
