Guard knocked out during Waterloo assault, NSW

A security guard remains under observation after being assaulted at Waterloo overnight, NSW Police say.

Police from Redfern Local Area Command were called to the corner of Danks and Morehead Streets, Waterloo, about 9.45pm today, following reports of an assault.

Police have been told a group young men were walking towards Redfern Station when they became involved in an argument with a group of unknown men.

When an 18-year-old man was hit in the face a security guard, who was with the first group, intervened and was knocked unconscious after being punched in the head.

A third man, aged 21, was also assaulted before the second group left the scene.

The 33-year-old guard was taken to St Vincent’s Hospital where he remains in a stable condition.

Officers from Redfern Local Area Command established a crime scene and have spoken with witnesses; however, no arrests have been made and inquiries are continuing.

Police are urging anyone with information on the incident to call Crime Stoppers.
