Hotel robbery Blackwood

Police are investigating a robbery at a Blackwood Hotel this morning.

About 2.30am Saturday 1 April police were called to a licenced premises on Main Road after reports two masked and armed men had smashed their way into the closed venue with an axe.

The men threatened staff and stole a small amount of cash before leaving the scene in a white Mercedes. Thankfully staff at the venue were not physically injured.

Just after 3am police and MFS were called to a car fire on Bombay Street at Oaklands Park. When police arrived they located the white Mercedes totally destroyed. Checks revealed the car had been stolen from an address in Highbury on Monday 27 March.

Crime Scene Investigators attended both scenes to gather evidence and Southern District CIB are investigating.
