Images released as police probe assault in Wollongong

Police investigating the assault of a man at Wollongong last week are appealing for public assistance, NSW Police say.

About 12.30am on Monday 13 June 2016, a 21-year-old man was walking along Keira Street with friends when they crossed paths with a group of men.

Police were told the groups exchanged words before the 21-year-old man was punched and kicked, losing consciousness. The group of men then left the area.

The man’s friends and a number of bystanders came to his aid before the arrival of NSW Ambulance paramedics.

He remains in hospital where he is being treated for his injuries, including a fractured skull.

Following inquiries, investigators have released CCTV images of five people they believe can assist with inquiries.

They are all described as males aged in their late teens to early 20s.

The first man is described as being between 18 and 25 years old with a moustache and was wearing a white shirt, black jacket, jeans and a black hat or cap.

The second man is described as being between 18 and 20 years old, short in stature, with a slim build and long brown hair. He was wearing a grey shirt, grey pants and a red hat.

The third man is described as being between 18 and 25 years old with a dark complexion. He was wearing dark clothing consisting of a jacket and pants.

The fourth man is described as being between 18 and 20 years old, tall in stature with a slim build. He was wearing a grey hooded jumper.

The fifth man is described as being between 18 and 25 years old, tall in stature with a medium build and brown hair. He was wearing a black long-sleeved shirt.

Anyone with information about the incident or who knows the identity of the people depicted in the CCTV is urged to come forward.
