Imitation Gun, Firearm Parts Confiscated Post Heathcote Arrest

Detectives from the Illicit Firearms Squad have charged a man and seized an imitation gun and firearm parts as part of an investigation into the alleged manufacture of unregistered firearms in regional Victoria.

A warrant was executed yesterday at a residential property in Heathcote Junction and a 31-year-old Heathcote Junction man was arrested.

During a search of his property, police located a range of tools and equipment, as well as a stock and barrel for a long arm, an imitation longarm, loose ammunition, and a wooden grip and stock for a firearm, as well as information on firearm manufacturing.

Detectives also located small quantities of cannabis and methylamphetamine, along with unidentified chemicals.

The man was interviewed and subsequently charged with possess parts to manufacture firearms, non-prohibited person possess firearm, possess cartridge ammunition and possess drug of dependence.

He has been bailed to appear at Seymour Magistrates' Court on 14 November.
