Improving Road Safety Across Tasmania

Dept of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications

The Albanese Labor Government continues to invest in high-priority safety improvements on local roads across Tasmania, with 14 dangerous sites to share in $3.5 million of Commonwealth funding.

Funded through the road Black Spot Program, the projects include the installation of traffic lights, roundabouts and safety barriers at locations where a number of serious crashes have occurred or are at risk of occurring.

The 14 projects were recommended by the Black Spot Consultative Panel in Tasmania, which is comprised of local stakeholders and ensures projects meet the needs of local drivers.

As part of the Government's significant boost to road safety funding, Black Spot Program funding will progressively increase from $110 million per year to $150 million per year nationally.
