Indigenous Artists Called to Join Currawa Crossing Exhibit

Currawa Crossing art exhibition 2024

The 'Currawa Crossing' exhibition is returning in 2024. Indigenous Artists from across the Riverina and Murray regions are invited to submit work into the community exhibition to be held at the Corowa Art Space.

The exhibition will be on display from the 24th May until 14th July 2024 and will run to coincide with National Reconciliation Week and National NAIDOC Week to celebrate and recognise the history, culture and artistic achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples residing in the region.

Federation Council Mayor, Cr Patrick Bourke said, "We would love to see participation from artists across the broader Riverina and Murray regions to help celebrate Indigenous art, storytelling and culture. Council are looking at continuing to hold this exhibition annually as there are so many talented artists in the region to showcase.

"The Currawa Crossing exhibition will provide a great opportunity for art lovers to buy genuine Aboriginal art and support local artists at a time where inauthentic artworks and AI-generated imitations are impacting the industry. Last year the Space was filled with vibrant contemporary works from Riverina based artists such as Owen Lyons, Elijah Ingram and Sonia Undy and we look forward to seeing what this years' exhibition brings!"
