Man charged after driving through mall in Wollongong

A man will appear in court today after allegedly driving through a pedestrian area outside a shopping mall at Wollongong yesterday, NSW Police say.

About 8.30pm today, a green Hyundai sedan allegedly entered the mall area on Crown Street.

A short time later, the vehicle was stopped by security staff before police from Wollongong Local Area Command attended.

No one was injured during the incident.

The driver, a 42-year-old man, was arrested at the scene and taken to Wollongong Police Station where he was charged with menacing driving, armed with intent to commit indictable offence, and intimidation

He was refused bail to appear at Wollongong Local Court tomorrow.
