Man charged over 2016 serious crash, TAS

A 31 year Launceston man has been charged with a number of offences following a serious two vehicle crash that occurred in Mowbray last year, Tasmania Police say.

This morning Northern Crash Investigation officers, assisted by officers from Northern RPOS and Northern Drug Investigation Services, arrested and charged the man, who was detained in custody to appear in the Launceston Magistrates Court, later today.

The man has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm by dangerous driving as well as numerous offences relating to traffic, drugs and property.

The arrest relates to a serious two vehicle crash that occurred on Vermont Road, Mowbray, just before midnight on Friday 9 December 2016.

Four occupants from one of the vehicles involved were hurt, with two of those sustaining significant injuries. The driver of the other vehicle involved fled the scene.

Today’s arrest results from the investigation conducted by Northern Crash Investigators. First Class Constable Nigel Housego, Northern Crash Investigation Services said "Police would like to thank all members of the public who have provided assistance and information during the course of this investigation. It has been of great value and contributed to today’s result".
