Man charged with online grooming in Albury

Police have charged a man over the alleged online grooming of a teenage girl.

In September 2015, officers attached to Albury Local Area Command commenced investigations into the alleged online grooming of a then 15-year-old girl, NSW Police say.

Police will allege a then 42-year-old man made contact with the girl via a social networking site.

During online conversations the man allegedly sent the girl explicit and inappropriate images and made requests for her to send him similar images.

About 5.30pm on Friday yesterday, detectives attended a home on St Johns Court, Thurgoona, and spoke to a 43-year-old man.

He was arrested and taken to Albury Police Station where he was charged with groom child for unlawful sexual activity, use carriage service to send indecent material and produce child abuse material.

The man was refused bail to appear at Albury Local Court today.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
