Man of accused filming colleagues illegally, NSW

A man is due in court charged after allegedly filming work colleagues while they were using a toilet at a business in Surry Hills overnight, NSW Police say.

Police from Surry Hill Local Area Command were alerted after an 18-year-old woman noticed the phone within a toilet area at the business on Elizabeth Street about 10pm yesterday.

Police seized the phone and, after examining it, will allege several staff had been recorded using the facility without their knowledge or consent.

It’s further alleged there was "up-skirting" vision taken of several female customers on the device.

A 23-year-old man was arrested at the business and taken to Surry Hills Police Station where he was charged with three counts of film person in private act without consent, and two counts of film person’s private parts with consent.

The man, from Hurstville, was refused bail to appear in Parramatta Bail Court today.

Inquiries are continuing.
