Man under police guard in hospital after siege, NSW

A man is under police guard in hospital after a siege in Lake Macquarie overnight, NSW Police say.

About 11.50pm today, police were called to a home on Main road, Boolaroo, after report a man wanted on outstanding warrants was at the location.

Officers from Lake Macquarie Local Area Command attended and found the man on the roof of the home.

The man then allegedly made numerous threats toward police and threw tiles from the roof at the police on the street.

Police evacuated six people out of the home.

Will the assistance of specialist negotiators the 30-year-old man climbed down of the roof at 2.25am and was arrested without incident.

He was treated by emergency services and taken to John Hunter Hospital where he remains under police guard.

Charges are expected after the man’s release from hospital.
