Marine Incident At Gold Coast

Police have coordinated a search and rescue operation in response to a marine incident earlier this morning, April 5.

At approximately 5.20am, police received reports of an unmanned boat that had collided with other vessels and a harbour marker on the Broadwater at Runaway Bay.

A search and rescue operation was launched involving water police vessels, Volunteer Marine Rescue, and civilian boats. The police dive squad was on standby.

A 34-year-old man was located on South Stradbroke Island and a second man aged 36 was located at Paradise Point. Both have been transported to hospital.

The boat has been recovered and transported to the Gold Coast Water Police mariner.

Police remain at the scene conducting searches.

Police investigations are ongoing.
