Melbourne CBD Department Store Theft Under Investigation

Police are appealing for public assistance to identify a man wanted as a part of an investigation into the theft of a designer jacket in Melbourne's CBD last year.

It's believed the man entered a Bourke Street department store about 3pm on 15 September and was looking through items of clothing in the shop.

He then took a Balmain jacket valued at almost $2300 and despite being confronted by staff members, left the store.

Police have released images and CCTV of the man in the hope someone is able to identify him.

At the time of the incident, he was wearing a black t-shirt and cap, jeans and tan coloured boots.

He is described as being Caucasian in appearance with dark hair, a dark goatee and a number of tattoos on his arms and neck.

Anyone who recognises the man or with any information about the theft is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report online at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
