Money To Boost Local Community Groups

Community group and event organisers can apply for up to $5,000 from Swan Hill Rural City Council's Community Grants Program, due to open on 1 May 2024.

  • The Community Grants Program is broken into the following two categories:

Event Support Fund – provides assistance to new and existing events that encourage social and economic benefits to our region.

  • Community Development Fund – assists eligible community groups and organisations to undertake a variety of projects.

Swan Hill Rural City Council Director Development and Planning, Michelle Grainger said each year Council released these grant programs in the hope that they would make a positive difference to local clubs and communities, as well as improve our region's livability, attracting visitors and dollars to our municipality.

"Projects include contributing to infrastructure upgrades and enhancements, new and improved equipment, and assisting local organisers to conduct and develop their events.

"This year, Council's Event Support Fund program has $90,000 on offer, to support new or existing events. This funding aims to create sustainable events that provide social and/or economic benefits to our region.

"We have an allocated $78,000 to assist community groups to undertake repairs, purchase equipment or expand their programs made available in the Community Development Fund," she said.

Ms Grainger encouraged all groups and organisations to consider applying this year.

"Grants like this support our community and have a significant impact by stimulating the economy, encouraging events to bring visitors to the region and improving our local facilities," she said.

Applicants close at 5:00 pm on 5 June 2024
