Motorcycle impound in Wyndham Vale

Westgate Highway Patrol members have detected a motorcyclist travelling at a high speed just after midnight, Victoria Police say.

The motorcycle was first clocked at an alleged speed of 120km/h in a 60km/h zone on Heaths Road and had overtaken several vehicles before being clocked again at an alleged speed of 167km/h in a 60km/h zone.

The rider was directed to pull over but rode off and cut through a grass reserve before losing control, dropping the motorcycle and running.

Police arrested the rider a short time later and he tested positive to a preliminary oral fluid test but refused to undergo a further test.

The 40-year-old Point Cook man has had his motorcycle impounded for a month.

He is expected to be charged on summons with offences including evade police, speeding, unlicensed driving, unregistered motor vehicle, refuse to undergo oral fluid test and learner riding a non LAMS motorcycle.
