New Appointments Strengthen Governance of Top Science Agencies

Dept of Industry, Science and Resources

The Albanese Government has added governance expertise to the boards of two of the nation's pre-eminent scientific organisations, the CSIRO and the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation (ANSTO).

The CSIRO Board welcomes Ming Long AM, as the Deputy Chair, and Terry Moran AC as a member. Andrew Carriline joins the ANSTO Board as the Deputy Chair.

The appointment of such high calibre and experienced corporate and public sector leaders will strengthen both boards, adding valuable expertise with corporate governance, research and education sectors, government and industry.

Ming Long AM was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia in 2020 for her significant service to financial and real estate sectors, and to diversity and inclusion. Mrs Long, who has led ASX-100 company Investa Office Fund and has extensive experience as a non-executive director, will be a part-time member and Deputy Chair of the CSIRO board for four years.

Former Secretary of the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, Terry Moran AC was appointed an Officer of the Order of Australia in 2012 for eminent service to the community through public sector leadership. Mr Moran will be a part-time member of the CSIRO board for three years.

With significant board director experience across governance, risk and financial management sectors, Andrew Carriline will be a valuable addition to the ANSTO Board and support the oversight of ANSTO's new nuclear medicine manufacturing facility project. Mr Carriline's term is for three years.

Mrs Long, Mr Moran and Mr Carriline will be filling current vacancies on the Boards.
