NSW Police and Corrective Services NSW officers conducted a joint operation at the Goulburn Correctional Centre today screening more than 120 visitors and allegedly detecting drugs and drug paraphernalia, NSW Police say.
Between 8.30am and 1.30pm today, officers from The Hume Local Area Command teamed up with officers from Corrective Services NSW to conduct Operation JAX.
In total, 129 visitors were screened prior to entry, resulting in;
- 13 people being refused entry due to drug detections/positive indications to drugs/consorting;
- 3 x drug detections (two men and a woman charged with drug possession for methamphetamine);
- 3 x consorting warnings issued;
- 31 x person searches;
- 18 x vehicle searches, and;
- 1 x drug implement seized
Officers are processing the information and will complete Court Attendance Notices for the drug detections.
Dates for court are yet to be determined.
The Hume Local Area Command Crime Manager, Detective Inspector Chad Gillies said today's joint operation is a regular operation in conjunction with Corrective Services NSW and the Goulburn Correctional Centre.
"These operations will continue and underline our commitment to preventing the introduction of illicit drugs and contraband into the correctional centre," Det Insp Gillies said.
