NSW police appeal after security guard threatened with firearm

Police are appealing for public assistance after a security guard was threatened with a firearm at Canley Heights this morning, NSW Police say.

About 12.30am today a man was ejected from a hotel on Avoca Road, Canley Heights, after having a heated conversation with an unknown female patron. The man became aggressive and challenged security guards.

The man drove out of the hotel car park in a early model silver or grey hatchback. The car was displaying stolen registration plates WHE271.

At 2.00am the man drove back to the hotel and called one of the security guards over to his vehicle. The man then produced a firearm and the security guard ran back towards the hotel. The man then drove away from the location. No shots were fired.

Extensive patrols of the area by police were unable to locate the vehicle or driver.

Police would like to speak to a man described as caucasian, 183cm tall, muscular build, short shaved hair with tattoos on both arms and wearing a green hooded jumper and shorts.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or believes they may have information that could assist police is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
