NSW police lay further charge following public order incident

Police have charged another man in connection with an alleged public order incident in Sydney’s west earlier last month.

About 7.20pm on Thursday 7 April 2016, police were called to Mount Druitt Railway Station, following reports a large group of people were fighting at the location.

Officers from Mount Druitt Local Area Command attended and located two groups of people at the station, and on North Parade.

Police dispersed the crowd of about 100 people and – following a canvass of the surrounding area – located and seized several items including a Molotov cocktail, knife and golf club.

During the incident, a 54-year-old woman was injured. She was taken to Mt Druitt Hospital for minor head and neck injuries.

Following inquiries, a 20-year-old man was arrested at a home in Fairfield about 5.45pm yesterday today.

He was taken to Fairfield Police Station where he was charged with riot.

He was granted conditional bail to appear at Mt Druitt Local Court on Thursday 30 June 2016.

This brings the number of arrests to 18, and police are continuing their investigations.
