NSW police suspend search for missing swimmer

Police have suspended the search for a swimmer who went missing at Bondi Beach earlier this week, NSW Police say.

About 2.30pm on Monday 6 June 2016, emergency services were called to the southern end of Bondi Beach following reports of a man in distress in the water.

Officers attached to Eastern Suburbs Local Area Command attended and conducted a search and rescue operation involving Marine Area Command, Police Rescue, PolAir, the Westpac helicopter and Bondi Beach Lifeguards.

Following further searches yesterday and today, nothing was located and it was suspended about 3pm.

Police divers are expected to search the area when sea conditions improve.
