OSCE Backs OECD's 5th Istanbul Anti-Corruption Plan Review

OSCE

On 19 April 2024, in the context of Tajikistan's ongoing review under the 5th monitoring round of the Istanbul Anti-Corruption Action Plan, the Programme Office in Dushanbe supported the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Anti-Corruption Network for Eastern Europe and Central Asia (ACN) monitoring team's visit to Dushanbe. The joint collaboration included hosting three separate special sessions of the monitoring team with civil society organizations, international partners, and the business sector.

During the sessions, the monitoring team clarified details received in response to the monitoring questionnaire on the nine performance areas, gathered additional information, and verified preliminary findings. The ACN Secretariat sent the comprehensive monitoring questionnaires to the Agency for State Financial Control and Fight Against Corruption and non-governmental stakeholders in Tajikistan in November 2023. The local stakeholders were given two months to complete and submit their responses.

The monitoring report will be adopted at the OECD ACN plenary meeting in September 2024. Its findings are expected to contribute to the agenda of Tajikistan's anti-corruption reform efforts within the framework of the Istanbul Anti-Corruption Action Plan, as also foreseen in the Action Plan to the National Anti-Corruption Strategy.

The activity is part of the Office's continuous efforts to support the host country to progress on good governance, implement the National Anti-Corruption Strategy, and anti-money laundering activities, in line with international standards.
