Pacific Highway closed after crash north of Coffs Harbour, NSW

The Pacific Highway is closed in both directions north of Coffs Harbour following a fatal crash involving two trucks, NSW Police say.

The crash happened about 6.50am today, at Halfway Creek 44km north of Coffs Harbour, when a semi trailer and a four-tonne truck collided.

The semi trailer then ran down an embankment; the driver was found deceased in his cab at the scene. It’s believed the semi was unladen.

The driver of the truck, believed to be a 42-year-old man, has been taken to Coffs Harbour Health Campus with serious pelvic and leg injuries. The truck was carrying tools.

Northbound traffic is being diverted via Bucca Road (Moonee Beach), Orara Way, Armidale Road to rejoin the Pacific Highway at South Grafton while southbound traffic is being diverted via Armidale Road, Orara Way, Bucca Road (Moonee Beach).

Motorists are advised to allow plenty of additional travel time.

The highway will be closed for some hours while officers from the Crash Investigation Unit examine the scene and the wreckage is removed.
