Keilor Downs police are hoping to locate the owner of an urn that was handed in to their station earlier this year, Victoria Police say.
The vase, containing ashes, was found on the side of the road on Marriott Avenue, Keilor Downs on 2 February.
Police have spent several months trying to identify the owner, but have been unsuccessful in their attempts.
They are now appealing for public assistance to help return the urn to its rightful owner.
The urn is purple in colour but has no other identifying features.
Anyone with information or who thinks they may know who it belongs to is urged to contact the Keilor Downs Police Station on 9365 3333.
