Elizabeth police are investigating an assault at Burton on 18 May that left a man with serious injuries after he was hit by a car, which then drove away from the scene, according to SA Police.

At about 8.45am, the victim had put his dogs in his car after taking them for a walk, when he noticed a light-coloured early model Holden Statesman parked behind his car on Kensington Way.

A man got out of the car and started yelling at the victim before hitting him in the face.

The victim was then knocked to the ground by the car as it drove at him.

The man was taken to hospital with head and leg injuries, which are not considered life-threatening.

The suspect is described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 180cm tall, slim build, short blonde hair and a rough-looking face.
