Police arrest pair after northern suburbs pursuit, South Australia

Police have arrested a man and a woman following a pursuit in the northern suburbs tonight.

Just after 8pm on Thursday 6 February, patrols spotted a stolen Mitsubishi sedan with stolen number plates stopped at the intersection of Spains Road and Salisbury Highway, Salisbury Downs.

A patrol officer at the intersection approached the car and deployed spikes while it was stationary at the traffic lights. The Mitsubishi has then reversed into a Toyota sedan and drove off at speed having been successfully spiked.

Patrols pursued the car along Salisbury Highway towards Parafield Gardens and into back streets at Green Fields before the occupants abandoned the Mitsubishi in Hilditch Drive and ran off. Police quickly apprehended them arresting the female driver and her male passenger who has been taken to the Lyell McEwin Hospital to be medically assessed in regard to a pre-existing leg injury.

The driver of the Toyota sedan was not physically injured.
