Police Charge Man After Cheltenham Road-rage

Moorabbin Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man following an alleged road-rage incident in Cheltenham earlier this week.

It is alleged a man was driving erratically on Warrigal Road, before he approached the window of another vehicle about 7.20pmon Monday, 29 April.

He allegedly threatened the occupants of the vehicle with a sawn-off shotgun.

There were no physical injuries during the incident.

Police intercepted the male driver on Bourke Road in Clayton South on 2 May, where firearms, ammunition and edged weapons were allegedly seized.

The 28-year-old Clarinda man was arrested at the scene.

Detectives executed a search warrant at an address in Clarinda, where they located further ammunition and an imitation firearm.

The Clarinda man has been charged with:

• possessing an unregistered handgun (x2)

• assault with a weapon

• possessing cartridge ammunition without a licence (x2)

• possess Prohibited weapon (x2)

• possessing a controlled weapon

He was remanded to face Moorabbin Magistrates' Court later today.
