Police charge man after Clayton South collision

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man following a fatal collision in Clayton South in December, where a woman later died.

It is alleged a white Volkswagen Tiguan wagon collided with a red Nissan Micra at the intersection of Heatherton Road about 5.15pm on Saturday, 30 December.

Police were told the collision pushed the Micra into a black BMW X5 wagon.

A female passenger in the Micra, an 89-year-old Patterson Lakes woman, was taken to hospital, where she died on 8 January.

The other occupants of the three vehicles involved were not injured and stopped at the scene.

A 69-year-old Clarinda man has been charged with dangerous driving causing death, two counts of drink driving and fail to stop at a red light.

He has been bailed to appear at Melbourne Magistrates' Court on 12 February.
