Police Charge Man After Hit And Run At Liverpool

A man has been charged following an investigation into a hit and run that left a man critically injured in Sydney's south-west earlier this week.

About 8:30pm on Monday (6 May 2024), emergency services were called to The Hume Highway, Liverpool, following reports a man had been hit by a vehicle.

Officers from Liverpool City Police Area Command attended and found a man lying on the road.

The 62-year-old man was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics, before being taken to Liverpool Hospital in a critical condition.

Police established a crime scene which was forensically examined with the assistance of specialist officers from the Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit, who commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash under Strike Force Promote.

Following extensive inquiries and a public appeal for information, officers arrested a 19-year-old man at Macquarie Fields Police Station about 3.40pm yesterday (Wednesday 8 May 2024).

He was charged with fail to stop after impact cause grievous bodily harm and granted conditional bail to appear before Liverpool Local Court on Wednesday 29 May 2024.
