Police charge man with wounding in Ravenswood

Police have charged a man in relation to an assault at Ravenswood last night where a man received serious head injuries.

Around 5.40pm emergency services responded to reports that a man walking on Booth Street had allegedly been struck over the head with an edged weapon.

The victim, a man in his 40s, was transported to the Launceston General Hospital then transferred to the Royal Hobart Hospital in a serious condition.

Police today charged a 33-year-old man from Ravenswood with wounding. He has been remanded to appear in the Launceston Magistrates Court this afternoon.
