Police Charge Woman With Assaulting Infant Child

Police have charged a 36-year-old woman from the East Coast, relating to an incident involving a three-month-old child this morning.

Around 2:00am, emergency services were called to a Triabunna address, after a portable cot had allegedly been flipped, resulting in minor injuries to the child.

The child was conveyed to the Royal Hobart Hospital in a stable condition and has since been discharged.

The 36-year-old woman was arrested and charged with assault this afternoon and will face the Hobart Magistrates Court at a later date.

It will be alleged the woman wasn't known to the child, however was an associate of another person present.
