Police prepare coronial brief into death of boy in Unanderra


Police are renewing their appeal for information about the death of a boy found deceased in a creek bed in the Illawarra region as they prepare a brief for the Coroner, NSW Police say.

On Thursday 16 March 2017, Ryan Teasedale, aged 11, was riding a body board in heavy rain in the company of numerous other children, in Riley Park, Unanderra.

About 4.30pm, the boy’s brother, who was also in the park with him, could not locate Ryan.

The brother attended the family home nearby and found that Ryan was not there either.

Ryan’s family began a search for him; however they contacted police at 6.30pm after he could not be located.

Police from Lake Illawarra Local Area Command, Police Rescue, and SES volunteers immediately commenced a search.

About 11.15am (17 March 2017) police located the body of a boy in a creek bed believed to be that of the 11-year-old boy.

Anyone with information or who was present at Riley Park, Unanderra, during the afternoon of the 16 March 2017 is urged to contact Lake Illawarra Detectives on (02) 4232 5373.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
