Police pursuit in Earlwood

Police are investigating after a police pursuit in Sydney’s south, NSW Police say.

Just before 11pm today, officers stopped a black Jeep Wrangler on Permanent Avenue, Earlwood and attempted to speak to the driver.

As the officer approached the vehicle, the 26-year old man drove away from police and a short pursuit was initiated.

A short time later, the jeep struck a gutter causing the vehicle to roll, hitting a parked VW Amrok and a light pole.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the man, who was ejected from the vehicle, at the scene before taking him to Royal Prince Alfred hospital with multiple fractures.

Officers attached to Ashfield Local Area Command established a crime scene and have commenced an investigation.

The man remains under police guard where charges are expected to be laid.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
