Police search for missing swimmer near Mildura

A search will resume tomorrow for a man who went missing while swimming in the Murray River on the NSW/Victorian border.

About midday today (Friday 25 December 2020), emergency services were called to the river at Liparoo, about 90km south east of Mildura, after a man, believed to be a 28-year-old foreign national, was seen to disappear under the water and not resurface.

Officers from Barrier Police District attended and commenced a search of the area with assistance from the State Emergency Service.

The search has been suspended overnight and is expected to resume at first light tomorrow (Saturday 26 December 2020).

Assistance has also been sought from NSW Police divers.
